Chairman – Mr Umana Okon Umana

Mr. Umana Okon Umana is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), the parent body of the Free Zones Global Investment Ltd (FZGIL). Umana is a former Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government; a former Commissioner for Finance in the state and a former Permanent Secretary in charge of budget in the state. Umana earned a degree in Economics from the University of Calabar and MBA in Finance from the University of Port Harcourt. He honed his leadership capacity many years ago with executive leadership training at the London Business School; RIPA international, London and the Columbia Graduate School of Business in New York.
Umana was chairman of the steering committee of the Akwa Ibom State/World Bank Community-based Urban Development Project. He also served as Chairman of the State Programme Co-ordinating Committee (SPCC) of the UNDP from 1997-2003.
He is a member of the Nigerian Economic Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

Mrs. Cynthia Eguridu, MBA, an Alumna of Harvard University, is the Chief Operating Officer at the Freezone Global Investment Ltd, the commercial SPV of the Oil & Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA). Freezone Global Investments Ltd (www.fzgil.org) is the investment subsidiary of the OGFZA.

 

A graduate of Leicester University, she holds both B.A & MSc degrees in Economics, M.A in Marketing & Communications and an MBA from London School of Business and Finance. She is a member of the Harvard Alumna Community, having attended the “Driving Government Performance” program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She is currently finishing her Master of Laws (LLM) at Robert Kennedy College, Zurich, Switzerland.

 

Whilst managing a Business Consultancy & Advisory firm in London, United Kingdom, she was headhunted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria (NSEC) as a Special Adviser to the Director General. She has an auditable academic pedigree and a uniquely rare blend of skills encompassing financial services, trade & investment, media & communication, Government and Corporate Services. She has held a variety of Investment Advisory roles for many African Governments such as Sierra Leone, Uganda, Rwanda & Nigeria.

 

Her technical and creative capabilities have been finely honed by her experiences as both an entrepreneur and senior management personnel in blue-chip institutions. She has held various management positions in leading international consultancies and holds Professional Memberships in several reputable bodies across Europe and Africa.

 

Mrs. Eguridu was awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award by Women In Business (AWIB) United Kingdom for two consecutive years. Her areas of recent interest include socio-economic challenges of emerging markets and public private partnership of special economic zones.
